Meeting for those who are visually impaired.

 This group meets every other Monday at 11am

  Christine Vasquez, a Senior Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for the New York
State Commission for the Blind has worked there for over 21 years.
She supervises a Children’s Consultant, Transition Counselor, Vocational
Counselor, and an Independent Living Counselor. These are some of the
programs offered through the Commission for the Blind.
Christine has worked to develop the skills and the resources to assist legally blind
New Yorkers function as independently as possible.
Some services offered through the Commission for the Blind include low vision,
vision rehabilitation training. orientation and mobility, and social casework.

Today’s discussion includes:
Information regarding who is eligible for Commission for the Blind services
Developing a network of friends and neighbors as a support system
Getting involved in local community groups
Preparing for emergencies
Being an advocate
