Third Monday of the Month at 3:00pm
. Think of this as a book group in format but instead of coming to the meeting having read a book you will have streamed a film .For the group's purposes a classic film is one that is more than ten years old and continues to be seen as having a notable place in the history of cinema.
The group has decided to be open to various approaches to the subject and will consider the work of directors (e.g., Jean Renoir, Ingmar Bergman); schools of cinema (Italian Neorealism,, "1930s Screwball Comedies'', "French New Wave'') and individual films (take your pick as long as they are true "classics").We may stay with a subject for one meeting or several.
As for my bona fides, I'm a retired academic with an interest in the history of cinema going back to high school.
Initially the group would be on Zoom but when health concerns subside ( and let's hope that one day they will) we plan to meet in person.
Meetings are held on the third Monday of every month at 3PM.
Regulars members of this group must register to receive the zoom link.
