Downtown Dames: Women’s HIstory Walking Tour of Lower Manhattan
Tues 26 September 1pm
Popular during the 2023 Municipal Art Society’s #JanesWalkNYC festival, this free women’s history walking tour given by GNPS member, Phyllis A Sears, will share the stories of the amazing women honored with historical markers and statues below Chambers Street in Lower Manhattan. We’ll discover suffragists, patriots, Nobel Prize winners, sport champions, adventurers, saints and royalty.
On this 2-hour, 1.5 mile walking tour, we will stay on city sidewalks involving no stairs - starting at Chambers Street and ending at The Battery.
Meeting Location: the park benches at the southwest corner of Chambers and Centre Streets in Manhattan, just above the Brooklyn Bridge/City Hall stop on the 4/5/6 subway trains.
Transportation:
The F train connecting to the downtown 6 train is easy and accessible.
The transfer from the 2/3 trains to the 4/5 trains is easy at Nevins Street.
