About this event
Herman P. Levine: A Brooklyn School Teacher in the Mexican Revolution
By Dan La Botz
In Person talk: Herman P. Levine, a Brooklyn School Teacher in the Mexican Revolution
In 1917 the United States entered World War I, to which there was great opposition in many sectors of society: among Irish and German immigrants, among Jews, among Native Americans, and among black people, and socialists. Herman P. Levine, a young Jewish socialist in Brooklyn, refused to serve and faced jail, and fled to Mexico, then in the midst of revolution. This is his story.
