available to you through HIICAP services, in the Department of Aging.

HIICAP (Health Insurance Information, Counseling and Assistance Program) helps people understand Medicare and related insurance, as well as programs that may be able to assist people with limited incomes. HIICAP is a completely free resource.
One on One counselling is available through a toll-free statewide HIICAP helpline at 1-800-701-0501.
NYC residents can call 212-AGING-NYC (212-244-6469) and ask for HIICAP for any Medicare-related questions.
Eric Hausman is the HIICAP Outreach Volunteer Manager at the NYC Department for the Aging (NYC Aging). Over the previous 15+ years, he served as the Lead Trainer for the HIICAP program in New York State, providing training and technical assistance to Medicare counselors throughout the state. He has conducted hundreds of Medicare presentations since 1998 on all aspects of Medicare and related insurance, both to groups of people with Medicare and to professionals. Eric holds both his BBA and MBA degrees from Baruch College in Manhattan. He loves to talk to people about Medicare.
