You must pass through security before entering City Hall, so please allow extra time. Adults must bring photo identification. Please meet the tour docent outside in City Hall’s plaza in front of the statue of Nathan Hale. If the weather is inclement, please meet the tour docent inside City Hall’s lobby.
The tour of City Hall is approximately 1 hour long -- please note that all tours consist of standing and walking through the building for the entire duration. Photography is permitted of art and architecture only. Please refrain from using electronic and cellular devices while you are on the tour.
One of the oldest continuously used City Halls in the nation that still houses its original governmental functions, New York's City Hall is considered one of the finest architectural achievements of its period. Constructed from 1803 to 1812, the building was an early expression of the City's cosmopolitanism. City Hall is a designated New York City landmark, and its rotunda is a designated interior landmark as well.
Directions & Transportation:
City Hall is located in City Hall Park and is accessible by public transportation. You can enter the plaza from either the west side of the park at Broadway and Murray Street or the east side at Park Row.
By Subway: 4, 5, 6 trains to City Hall/Brooklyn Bridge; 2, 3 trains to Park Place; R trains to City Hall; A, C trains to Chambers Street
