Introduction to Managed Long Term Care
Managed Long Term Care (MLTC) is how the New York Medicaid program pays for home health aide and other long-term care services. Many New Yorkers who need help to age in place obtain Medicaid for those services, and that usually means joining an MLTC plan.
ICAN (the Independent Consumer Advocacy Network) is a free program that helps people learn more about MLTC and get the care they need.
This presentation will cover
-
The requirements for qualifying for Medicaid home care;
-
What kinds of Medicaid plans offer home care;
-
How people can have their friends or family work as their home care aides through a program called consumer-directed personal assistance services (CDPAS);
-
How people who need more home care can appeal to their Medicaid plans and win;
-
How ICAN can help with all of the above
Em Holcomb, Healthcare Advocate at ICAN and the Center for Independence of the Disabled New York (CIDNY), will give a presentation about how to enroll in MLTC, the different kinds of plans and services available, and how ICAN can help you if you need MLTC or if you already have an MLTC plan.
