Exploring the Important Role of Death Doulas in Our Community

The term death doula or end-of-life doula may raise some eyebrows.  Death doulas help educate and navigate the complexities of death, dying, and grief.

Join us for this one-hour conversation about their roles, purpose and significance in providing holistic support both to individuals and to the community.

Topics covered include:

  • What is a Death Doula?.

  • The importance of facilitating conversations on death, dying, and grief

  • Sitting bedside and offering support to loved ones

  • Incorporating Traditions and Rituals

  • Paperwork and digital life organization

  • Legacy Work

  • Family mediation

You will learn the various roles death doulas play in supporting elders as well as their families and help prepare you for the unexpected.

Marni Blank is a trained death doula, mediator and  lawyer.  She completed her death doula training through Going with Grace, mediation training through New York Peace Institute and Elder Decisions, grief training through Living Through Loss Counselling Society and is NEDA proficient.

Marni’s goal is to create a safe space to learn and talk about death, dying & grief. This includes accountability in completing advance care directives & end-of-life planning, creating legacy projects, and facilitating conversations within families. She brings deep compassion, active listening, practical resources and a healthy dose of humor to her work.  Death and grief affect us all. The more we connect with our families,  communities and ourselves, the less fear plays into these important discussions and decisions.

She has written articles for Trust & Will and Lantern
