Civil War and Reconstruction Discussion Group

Civil War and Reconstruction-Yale lecture series
Sundays at 4pm
led by GNPS member Sharon Peters

A discussion of Civil War and Reconstruction based on an online Yale course taught by historian Professor David Blight  in 2008-09.

Our meetings will discuss the course, a series of 27 lectures, offered to the public on the Yale website.

Professor Blight is a professor of history at Yale and a renowned scholar on the study of slavery, resistance and abolition.  He offers a comprehensive, compelling and often eloquent history of the period before, during and after the Civil War.  A time in our past that is still relevant today,.

In our weekly meetings we will  discuss 1-2 of the 27 lectures.

Here are the links to the lectures we’ll discuss on the 28th.

Here is the link to learn more about Professor  Blight and the course.  If you click on  the sessions tab directly above the video you will see the title of each lecture.

If you have access to Apple iTunes podcasts you can also listen to the series here.

As a teacher, counselor and coach Sharon has facilitated many groups.
